Highland Destination
During the British colonial era, Cameron Highlands was a haven for many Brits seeking temporary relief from the cooler climates of the Camerons. Today, Cameron Highlands is a popular hillside destination from many Malaysian travellers and tourists from around the world. Besides tourism, Cameron Highlands is also a major area in Malaysia for cultivation of temperate vegetables and flowers.

History
Cameron Highlands got its name from William Cameron, a British surveyor commissioned by the British colonial government in 1885 to map the area. A committee was later formed in 1925 to construct a road from Tapah to Cameron Highlands. The road was completed in 1931 and by the mid-1930s had become a popular resort with its nine-hole golf course, several cottages, inns and a rest house. A police post was also established besides two boarding schools, vegetable farms, tea estates and an experimental agricultural station.
