KLIA to Kuala Lumpur by Train
The KLIA Ekspres links KLIA directly with KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur and the journey takes 28 minutes. Trains run from 5.00 a.m. to 12.00 midnight departing every 15 minutes between 5.00 a.m. and 9.00 a.m. and between 4.00 p.m. and 10.00 p.m., while departing every 20 minutes outside those hours. The cost of a one-way ticket is MYR35. If flying Malaysian Airlines, Emirates, Cathay or Royal Brunei, you can check-in your baggage at KL Sentral instead of the airport.

The KLIA Transit, like the KLIA Ekspres, also links the airport with KL Sentral except that it stops at three intermediate stations - Salak Tinggi, Putrajaya, and Bandar Tasik Selatan. The journey takes 36 minutes and the fare from end to end is the same as for the KLIA Ekspres. Different fares apply for journeys to the intermediate stations. From KL Sentral, trains run every half hour from 5.33 a.m. to 12.03 a.m., while from KLIA, trains run every half hour from 5.52 a.m. to 1.00 a.m. You can check-in your baggage at KL Sentral even when holding a KLIA Transit ticket.

You can also catch a
connecting bus from KLIA for the KTM Komuter at Nilai Station. The Nilai-KLIA buses are operated by Airport Coach and Sepang Omnibus. The entire journey may take about two hours, but the cost is considerably cheaper - the bus fare from KLIA to Nilai Station is about MYR2.50 and onward on the KTM Komuter to KL Sentral is MYR4.70.

KLIA to Kuala Lumpur by Taxi
There are airport limousines and budget taxis stationed at the airport. You must buy coupons from the airport limo counters located before you exit the international and domestic arrival gates. Ask for a budget taxi or the slightly more expensive airport limousine. The fare to Kuala Lumpur is about MYR75 for the budget taxi and extra RM25 for the limousine. If there is more than one person, it is cheaper and more convenient to take a taxi directly to your destination, rather than going by train.

KLIA to Kuala Lumpur by Bus
Airport Coach runs a one hourly express bus between KL Sentral and KLIA from 6.30 a.m. to 12.30 a.m. if departing from KLIA. The fare is MYR10 one way and RM18 return. The Star Shuttle bus runs from KLIA to Kota Raya and Pudu Raya (both are near Chinatown) in Kuala Lumpur and the one-way fare is RM12.50.

Car Rentals at KLIA
There are several car rental companies operating at the arrival terminal including Hertz, Avis, Mayflower and Orix. The airport is directly linked with the North South Expressway Central Link (known by its Malay abbreviation "Elite"). The journey from KLIA to Kuala Lumpur's city centre is about 70 km and about an hour drive if the traffic is smooth.
