Budget Eats

Finding cheap eats in Langkawi should not be a problem, there are plenty of local eateries including open air restaurants and food stalls. A meal with drinks for a person costs MYR3-4 for breakfast and lunch or dinner costs MYR5-12. The majority of the cheap eats serve local dishes namely Malay, Chinese, Indian or Thai but there are some eateries offering simple Western dishes. You can find plenty of cheap eats across Kuah Town, along the promenade near the ferry Jetty Point terminal and the popular beach destinations of Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah.

If you see people crowding at a local eatery, then the food must be good! The following is just a few of the recommendations for cheap eats in Langkawi.
  • AddaMaya CafĂ© - This is a small cozy place located opposite Pantai Nadia's Comfort Inn in Pantai Cenang. The chef and his crew can whip up delicious meals from local to simple Western foods. Problem is, it can get a bit dusty since it is situated fronting the main road. Locals like to come here for good food at reasonable prices.
  • Rafi's Place - A rustic shack in Pantai Cenang situated between Restoran Aliah's and Tomato Nasi Kandar. There is no visible signboard to Rafi's Place and you may have to ask around. There is plenty of parking space in front of his shack and the place has very good ambiance, popular with the morning crowd.
  • Tomato Nasi Kandar - An Indian eatery located opposite Langkawi Boutique Resort in Pantai Cenang. The eatery opens during the day and all night long, even in the wee hours of the morning. This eatery serves a wide variety of Indian dishes including naan, briyani rice and kebabs. The food is of high standard and value for money but the waiters need some improvements in taking orders.
  • Restoran Fatimah - This is an Malay restaurant located near Kampung Tok Senik Resort (on the road to Ulu Melaka). The restaurant serves an amazing range of authentic Malay dishes, popular with many Malaysia tourists to Langkawi and often coming by the busload.
