Langkawi International Airport is the only airport to Langkawi, handling around 1.4 million tourists each year. The airport is at Padang Matsirat, about 25 minutes drive from the town of Kuah and 15 minutes from the popular beaches of Pantai Cenang and Pantai Tengah. The airport is also the venue for the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), an international aerospace event with exhibits of aircraft and air performances for the public.

There are direct flights to Langkawi International Airport from Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Hat Yai and Phuket served by the following airlines:

  • Penang - Malaysian Airlines, Air Asia and Firefly.
  • Kuala Lumpur - Malaysian Airlines (KLIA), Air Asia (KLIA-LCCT), Firefly (Subang) and Berjaya Air (Subang).
  • Singapore - Malaysian Airlines, Air Asia and Silk Air.
There are also seasonal flights from Hong Kong (Cathay Pacific), Guangzhouu (China Southern Airlines) and Helsinki (Finnair). Taxis are available at the airport as well as car rental services to get you to your destination.

Langkawi Ferry Services operates regular fast air-conditioned boats between the Langkawi Ferry Terminal and the Malaysian mainland including:

  • Kuala Perlis (MYR18, 75 minutes) and
  • Kuala Kedah (RM23, 105 minutes).
The company also operates regular ferry services between Penang Island (RM60, 165 minutes).

From southern Thailand, there are ferry services
from Satun (MYR30 or THB300, 75 minutes) departing at 4 p.m. Another is the ferry service to Langkawi's Telaga Harbour from Thailand's Ko Lipe (MYR128 one-way, MYR248 return, 75 minutes) at the southern end of Pattaya Beach.
