Butterworth to Penang Island
There is a daily ferry service between Butterworth (on the mainland) and Weld Quay on Penang Island. The railway station and Penang Sentral bus terminal in Butterworth are within walking distance from the ferry terminal to Penang Island. The service operate from
5.30 a.m. until 1.00 a.m. and each journey takes about 15 minutes. The ferry fares from Butterworth to Penang Island are MYR1.20 for adults, MYR0.60 for children, MYR1.40 for bicycles, MYR2.00 for motorbikes and MYR7.70 for cars but free from Penang Island to Butterworth.

Langkawi Island to Penang Island
Langkawi Ferry operates a ferry service between Jetty Point on Langkawi and Weld Quay on Penang Island. From Langkawi, the ferries depart at 2.30 p.m. and 5.15 p.m to Penang Island. The trip takes 2hrs 45mins and passengers have to check-in at least 30 minutes before the departure time. A one way trip costs MYR60 for adult, MYR45 for children (3-11 years old) and MYR25 for infant (below 2 years old) while return trips costs MYR115, MYR85 and MYR50 respectively. The boats are air-conditioned and have locked storage for luggage.
