Penang Bird Park
The 5-acre Penang Bird Park is located on the mainland (Seberang Jaya) at Jalan Todak, near Sunway Carnival Mall and about 10 minutes drive from the Penang Bridge. The bird park opened in 1988 and home to more than 300 species from around the world of which 150 are from Malaysia. The birds are housed in enclosures imitating their natural environments and include two huge aviaries, geodesic domes and more than 100 cages. Birds here include ostriches, hornbills, sea eagles, flamingos, kingfishers, finches, macaws, parrots and pheasants. The bird park opens daily and admission is MYR29 for adults and MYR15 for children.

Penang Butterfly Farm
The Penang Butterfly Farm is located in Jalan Teluk Bahang and opens throughout the year including Sundays and public holidays. The butterfly farm opened in 1986 and is a living museum, believed to be the first of its kind in Southeast Asia. Though a major tourist attraction, the butterfly aims to create awareness and educated the public about butterflies and other insects. Besides a large collection of tropical butterflies, there are collections of other tropical insects, scorpions, fishes and reptiles including snakes and lizards. Admission is MYR27 for adults (MyKad holders MYR18) and MYR12 for children (MyKid holders MYR10.

Penang Aquarium
The Penang Aquarium (officially known as the Fisheries Department Research Institute Aquarium) is located in Batu Maung in the southeastern tip of Penang Island. This is a medium-sized aquarium with just 25 tanks including a large 80,000-litre tank holding larger species of marine life such as snappers. The creatures are from the waters around Penang and include moray eels, surgeon fish, stone fish, squirrel fish, stingrays, angel fish and bivalves. Other marine creatures include live corals such as mushroom corals, brain coral and bubble corals. Admission is MYR5 for adults and MYR2 for kids. Not a fancy aquarium but nevertheless informative and enjoyable and should be on the list of visits when in Penang.
