Bandung is the capital of West Java Province and Indonesia's third largest city. The city was once referred as the "Paris of Java" by the former Dutch colonial rulers for its Parisian character and resemblance. Situated 768 metres (2,520 feet) above sea level, Bandung's climate is pleasantly milder than the lowlands with temperatures averaging 24°C (75°F).
