Borobudur

Borobudur is a Mahayana Buddhist temple complex located 40-60 minutes by car or bus from the city of Yogyakarta. The complex dates back to the 8th century, taking nearly 75 years to construct but for unknown reasons abandoned and hidden for centuries by the thick jungle. Borobudur was eventually rediscovered in the early 19th century and restored by the early 20th century.
