Getting In

Visa

Visa & Passport
Most nationalities can enter Singapore without a visa. Refer to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority for current guidelines, including a list of more than 30 nationalities that are required to obtain a visa in advance. Possession of a Singapore visa does not guarantee a visitor's entry into the country. The grant of a pass to enter Singapore to a foreign visitor at the point of entry is at the discretion of the immigration officer, based on its own merits.

The duration of the entry permit depends on the nationality of the visitor and entry point into Singapore. Generally most visitors get 14 or 30 days stay, although citizens of European Union countries, Norwegian, Swiss and US passport holders get 90 days. Citizens of some CIS countries (such as Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan) can transit in Singapore for 4 days without a visa, if they have tickets to a third country.

Capital Offences
Singapore has very strict drug laws and drug trafficking carries a mandatory death penalty - applied to everyone including foreigners. Even if you technically haven't entered Singapore and merely transiting at the airport (without the need to clear passport control and customs) you can still be charged and received the death penalty. In addition, bringing in explosives or firearms without a proper permit are also a capital offence in Singapore.

Publications & Media
Pornography, pirated goods and publications by the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Unification Church may not be imported to Singapore. In theory, all entertainment media including movies and video games must be sent to the Board of Censors for approval before they can be brought into Singapore but that is rarely if ever enforced for original (non-pirated) goods. Pirated CDs or DVDs, on the other hand, can land you fines of up to SGD1000 per disc.
