Situated in the former HQ of the British army during World War II and now turned into an air-conditioned museum complete with animatronic figures. The museum retells the events of the days leading to the surrender of Singapore by the British to the Japanese. Nearest MRT station is Dhoby Ghaut but it's a steamy hike up the hill to the museum.

Formerly Singapore's History Museum and completely refurbished with a new wing added. The star of the show is the History Gallery, a multimedia extravaganza covering six centuries of Singapore's history, navigated with a super-flexible interactive audio guide system. There are also four Living Galleries focusing on food, fashion, film and photography, plus various temporary exhibitions and a few nice cafes and restaurants.

pening: only on 5  public holidays i.e. Chinese New Year, Deepavali, Hari Raya Puasa, Labour Day and National Day from 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission: Non-Singaporeans SGD1.
Completed in 1869, this Malay-Indian hybrid building was once the Government House of the colony of Singapore. After independence, it was turned into the official residence of the President of Singapore. The 100-acre grounds occupy some of Singapore's choicest real estate and incorporate several gardens and even a 9-hole golf course. There is a Change of guard ceremony every first Sunday of the month.

Singapore Art Museum
71 Bras Basah Road (near MRT Bras Basah Station). Opening: Daily from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission: SGD3 but free on Friday evenings.
Home to modern art collections from both Singapore and the region. The permanent collection is lackluster but exhibitions can be interesting. There are guided tours in English at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.

11 Mount Sophia, Block B, #B2-09 (near Dhoby Ghaut MRT Station).
Presumably the largest dedicated photo gallery in Southeast Asia, with a focus on Singaporean talent. Hosts changing exhibitions including the yearly Singapore International Photography Festival plus workshops, lectures and more.
