Beaches

Among Singaporeans, the most popular reason to go to Sentosa Island is to hit the beaches. The main beaches on this small island are Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong. Though sheltered beaches, they are artificial i.e. reclaimed using sand brought in from Indonesia and Malaysia. Unfortunately the waters here are rather murky due to the never ending parade of ships sailing across the Straits. The beaches are manned by lifeguards, who wear red and yellow uniforms.

Siloso Beach
Siloso Beach is located on the western portion of Sentosa Island facing the south. The area is known for offering several outdoor activities including beach volleyball, kayaking, skim boarding, mountain biking and rollerblading.
It has a nice beach promenade, full of restaurants and clubs, some rather noisy. At night the area turns very lively with plenty of live music. There are also several shopping outlets in the area but like the rest of Sentosa Island, prices here are steep.

Palawan Beach
Palawan Beach is located in the centre of the southern coast of Sentosa Island. T
here is a short suspension bridge connecting beach goers from Palawan to a small islet, which is said to be the Southernmost Point of Continental Asia and Asia's closest point to the Equator. Palawan is a family-friendly beach with plenty of shops and eateries but expect to pay the high prices.

Tanjong Beach
Tanjong Beach is relatively a more secluded and quietest of the three beaches on Sentosa Island. The beach is shaped like a crescent and many consider it as being much nicer than Palawan Beach. It is the perfect spot for lounging under the sun and
the place for beach volleyball. The Tanjung Beach club here features a restaurant and a rather nice swimming pool.
