Krabi Airport serves Krabi Province and is a small airport handling about 350,000 passenger arrivals each year. The airport is about 40 minutes by car to Ao Nang. The airport currently handles scheduled flights by AirAsia between Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Bangkok Airways between Koh Samui, Thai AirAsia between Bangkok (Don Muang Airport), Thai Smile between Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi Airport) and Tiger Airways between Singapore.

Save on your hotel -

The local airport limo monopoly charges a steep fare of 600 baht for transfers (up to 4 people). Many hotels will arrange a pickup at similar prices on request. Travel time between the airport and Ao Nang is about half an hour. Local shuttle buses (actually converted pickup trucks called songthaew) run from the airport to Krabi Town (50 baht) and from Krabi Town to Ao Nang (40 baht). The total trip between the airport and Ao Nang takes ess than 2 hours. To get to Ao Nang from Krabi Town you should look for a white songthaew outside the 7-Eleven store.

There is a bus service (four services a day) from the airport to Ao Nang Beach and Noppharat Thara Beach (just after Ao Nang). It travels from the airport to Krabi Town and then to Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara. The fare is 150 baht per person and traveling time to Ao Nang is 1 hour. The buses are rather old but can drop you off at most hotels in Krabi Town, Ao Nang and Noppharat Thara. Just let the driver know the name of your hotel in advance. For the return trip, you can wait at any of the four bus stops in Ao Nang (one is in front of McDonald's) and Noppharat Thara.

Rai Leh West and Ton Sai are only 10 minutes and Had Yao (Long Beach) is 25 minutes away by long-tail boats. Boats arrive and depart constantly from the east end of Ao Nang Beach and charge 80 baht per person during the day and 100 baht per person after 6:00 p.m. There is no pier so expect to get your feet wet. The boat service is available throughout the year but subject to favourable weather.

There is a songthaew (pick-up truck converted into a shared taxi) service to Ao Nang from Krabi Town, which runs during the daylight hours in low season and up to 10 p.m. in high season. The fare is 50 baht per person and they can be expected every 15-20 minutes. Songthaews are colour coded according to destination and if going to Ao Nang from Krabi Town, take the white one. To find the white
songthaews in Krabi, go to the Vogue shopping centre at Maharaj Road (the main road) or the main bus station.

Getting Around
Tuk-tuks in Ao Nang charge a flat fare of 20 baht per person for trips around town. Songthaews also travel across Ao Nang, between Shell Beach and some all the way to Krabi Town. Fares range from 10 to 50 baht up depending on the distance. Renting a motorbike is a great way to explore some of the sites outside of Ao Nang. There are rental shops along the major strips and you can get a good bike for 24 hours for 150-200 baht.
