Getting In
There are no land routes to Rail Leh and the only way to get here is by boat. There are long-tail boats departing from Ao Nang, taking about 15 minutes and cost 50-80 baht per person (minimum 8 people). There are also boats departing from Krabi Town (30 minutes) on demand. It's possible to go to Rai Leh by regular ferries running between Ko Lanta, Ko Phi Phi, and Phuket Town (from Rassada Pier). If departing from Ao Nang, you're expected to walk several meters on the sand and surf to get onto the boats, which land on the beach. Therefore, it's best to wear clothes suitable for getting wet and be sure you only have luggage that you can carry into the sea and put on the boat.

Rai Leh primary caters to two groups of vacationers with honeymooners and families forming one group and rock climbing backpackers being the other group. Fortunately, Rai Leh offers accommodation for both groups ranging from bamboo bungalows to concrete hotels. Prices typically double during the tourist season (November-April). Budget accommodation are mostly found in Rai Leh East. For the best variety of budget accommodation (wooden bungalows), try neighbouring Ton Sai Beach - a 10 minute walk or 1 minute long-tail ride - where you can get rooms for a few hundred baht a night.

Rai Leh has many small convenience stores selling various essentials at reasonable prices, considering shipping cost to what is essentially an island. Though most shoppers (souvenir or otherwise) will be better satisfied in nearby Ao Nang, you can find clothing, souvenirs, beachwear and such vailable in various small shops in Rai Leh East and Rai Leh West. There are no real grocery vendors, so meals are limited to the restaurants but some small snack items are available at the convenience stores.
