Tour Itineraries

Bangkok Weekend Tour

The Bangkok weekend tour is a two-day tour through the city with attractions that can only be visited on Saturdays and Sundays. If one of your days in Bangkok is a Saturday or Sunday, this itinerary should come in handy to make the most of your visit to the city.

Saturday Morning
Bangkok is a paradise for shopping and the Chatuchak Weekend Market in Phahonyothin has to be the most impressive market of the city. Chatuchak is best reached by Skytrain or Metro. Take a metered taxi to Ratchathevi Skytrain station (B100). A cheaper way is to walk to Tha Phan Fa, the closest Saen Saep Express Boat stop (near Golden Mount) and get to Ratchathevi from there. Then take the the train north to Chatuchak.

Saturday Afternoon
The Phya Thai Palace or Royal Phya Thai Palace is situated on the banks of the Samsen Canal at Rajavithee Road in the Ratchathewi district
. Construction of the Phya Thai Palace began in 1909 during the reign of King Rama V as a retreat when the area was a countryside. However King Rama only used the palace for a short period as he died after being crowned. The palace today is part of a hospital complex but limited tours are available on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Sunday Morning
Get up early and take the Chao Phraya Express Boat to Chang Pier. From here, take a canal tour through Thonburi, the western unspoilt side of Bangkok. There are several companies offering these tours from Chang Pier. Tour options are generally one hour, one and a half hours and two hours. All the boat tours will visit Wat Arun, Royal Barge National Museum and one of the floating markets. It is best to take this river cruise during the weekend since you will have opportunity to visit the Taling Chan Floating Market (as opposed to weekdays, when you will visit the unimpressive Thonburi Floating Market.
