Jomtien Beach

Another beach in Pattaya is Jomtien Beach, located about 2 km south from Pattaya Beach and separated from the main Pattaya Bay by Buddha Hill. Compared to Pattaya Beach, the beach here is cleaner and quieter and therefore popular with family vacationers. Being less crowded, many tourists staying in the Pattaya Beach area take a short trip to enjoy the more relaxed Jomtien Beach.

The beach at Jomtien is largely straight and sandy, stretching for almost 6 km. Though quiet and relaxed compared to crowded Pattaya Beach, Jomtien has turned to another popular beach destination in Pattaya with rapid development in recent years. There are now hotels, condos, bungalows, restaurants, cafes and shops along the road at Jomtien Beach. Popular water sports include parasailing, windsurfing, jet skiing and boat rentals are available from here. There are also the (sometimes annoying) hawkers on the beach selling food, drinks and almost anything including foot massage.

Jomtien Beach is a popular destination for a second home for many Bangkok residents as well as retired expats mainly from Europe. Though a lively nightlife exists, it is more refined and overall lacks the sleaziness of Walking Street at Pattaya Beach. Pattaya Park Beach Resort and Tower (pattayapark.com) at Chom Thian is a popular theme park especially for families with children. The park features a fun park, water park and a 240 meter tall observation tower offering a panoramic view of Pattaya.
