Shops
Convenience stores are everywhere in Pattaya selling basic yet appreciated items when travelling such as a toothbrush, soap, sandwiches, snacks and cold drinks. 7-Eleven and Family Mart shops (all open 24 hours) are the main convenience store chains plus countless independents. If you use the family run shops the prices aren't always marked but should be the same or just a baht or two higher.

Thailand is famous for its precious stones and jewellery and Thai craftsmen are known for their expertise in jewellery making. Thus, it is not surprising to find jewellery stores abound in Pattaya including those located in the shopping malls. Prices here (or anywhere else in Thailand) are much lower than in the West. You can find their concentrations around the market on South Pattaya Road, around Central Pattaya Road (near Second Road) and towards the south end of Beach Road.

Art galleries have become a rising business in Pattaya and artworks ranging from paintings to sculptures in various styles and designs including Western and Eastern. The art galleries here have a reputation in offering fine quality artworks at affordable prices, often attracting Western tourists. Besides original works, many art galleries also offer custom orders and art reproduction.

Tailor shops are everywhere with than 400 such shops in Pattaya. Most tailor shops are small outlets and individually owned and quality varies ranging from terrible to excellent. To order for a well-tailored suit, your best bet is to go to the shops housed in the better hotels - though prices are higher, they still cost less than in the West. Ideally, make sure you get two fittings before buying.
