Getting In

By Bus

1st Class Bus from Bangkok
There are scheduled express buses travelling regularly between Bangkok and Pattaya. These buses are air-con and travel directly (do not make any stops and uses the expressway) between the two cities. Departures in Bangkok are from
the Eastern (Ekamai) Terminal and Northern (Mo Chit) Terminal with departures every 20-40 minutes and the journey takes 2-2.5 hours. There are less frequent departures from the Southern (Sai Tai Taling Chan) Terminal and the journey takes longer.

Fares are around 120 baht, varying slightly depending on the route. For example, at busy times when buses depart from the Mo Chit use the elevated express tollway and therefore a marginally higher fare applies - the exact prices are always clearly posted at the official ticket counters. All 1st class services arrive in Pattaya at the bus terminal in North Pattaya Road. From the here, songthaews wait for arriving passengers to take them to their destinations. The fare to anywhere on Beach Road is 25 baht - press the button on the underside of the roof when you want to get off.

2nd Class Buses from Bangkok
Buses on the 2nd class services are also air-con but do not use the expressway and make frequent stops along the route. Theses buses will also make unscheduled halts to let passengers off before arriving at their final destination.
Hence the journey takes considerably longer than their 1st class counterparts.

Departures from Bangkok are from the Ekamai and Mo Chit terminals and arrive at South Pattaya Road. Many 2nd class buses from Bangkok continue on to Jomtien, so may be worth considering if that's your final destination and you're not in a hurry. 2nd class fare is around 100 baht and therefore not much price difference than the 1st class services.
