Vietnam is an s-shaped country occupying a land mass of about 331 thousand sq. km. (128 thousand sq. miles), about the size of Germany. While most of the coastal areas and Southern Vietnam is level land, the interior comprises mainly of forested highlands. Major Cities

  • Hanoi - The capital and second largest city in Vietnam and a blend of East and West.
  • Hai Phong - A major port city near Hanoi and the fourth largest city in Vietnam.
  • Dalat - Located in the Central Highlands and the largest city in the Highland.

  • Con Dao - A group of 16 islands off the Mekong Delta, with the largest being Con Son.
  • Cu Chi - The site of the Cu Chi Tunnels, an elaborate network of tunnels totaling 250 km.
  • Cuc Phuong National Park - Home to some of Asia's rarest wildlife and the Muong hill tribe
  • The DMZ - Demilitarised zone that once separated North Vietnam and South Vietnam.
  • Ha Long Bay - A natural wonder in the Gulf of Tonkin, famous for its karst topography scenery.
  • Kontum - Laid back little town providing access to a number of ethnic minority villages.
  • My Son - Ancient Hindu ruins built by the Cham Empire and today a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • Tay Ninh - Capital of Tay Ninh Province and location of the Cao Dai Temple.
  • Tam Coc - Town made famous for the nearby Karst scenery and the village of Tam Coc.
