Vietnam has international airports at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Da Nang. Non-stop flights to Vietnam from Asia include Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Brunei, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia and Macau. Other flights include from France, Germany, Russia, Australia, Qatar, Turkey and Dubai. Most direct flights are by the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines while plenty of other long-haul flights are available with transits via Bangkok, Doha, Dubai, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Taipei.

Airport at Hanoi
Noi Bai International Airport is the main airport in Vietnam's northern region and about 25 km (16 miles) from Hanoi. The airport received around 10 million passengers in 2011, accounting for a third of the passenger traffic at Vietnam's three international airports. International flights handled by the airport are mainly with major cities within the Asian region including Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Manila, Luang Prabang, Vientiane, Phnom Penh, Hong Kong, Taipei, Guangzhou and Kunming. Noi Bai Airport also handles flights between Moscow (Sheremetyevo Airport) flown by Russia's Aeroflot and Paris (Charles de Gaulle Airport) by Vietnam Airlines.

Tan Son Nhat International Airport is the main airport in Vietnam
's southern region. The airport accounts for half of Vietnam's passenger traffic, handling nearly 17 million passengers in 2011. Furthermore, Tan Son Nhat Airport handles more flights and destinations compared to Noi Bai Airport. Besides regular international (direct) flights between major cities in Asia, the airport also handles between Dubai, Moscow (Domodedovo Airport), Frankfurt, London (Gatwick Airport), Paris (Charles de Gaulle Airport), Doha, Melbourne and Sydney.

Airport at Da Nang
Da Nang International Airport is Vietnam's third international airport and located in Central Vietnam. Besides handling civilian flights, the runway is also used by the country's air force but its usage by the military is limited. A smaller airport compared to the airports at Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang Airport handled 3 million passengers in 2011. International flights are also limited compared to the other two airports and mainly regional including Kuala Lumpur, Seoul (Incheon Airport), Kunming, Hong Kong, Taipei, Singapore, Siem Reap, Vientaine and Pakse.
